Isaiah 65:24 (NLT)
I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers!
Remember the story in Acts 12 of Peter's miraculous escape from prison? The church was praying fervently, and when the young girl Rhoda answered the knock on their door, and realize it was Peter, they told her she was dreaming!
Pastor Moses Paye is President of the Evangelical churches of Liberia (ECOL), which includes about 100 ECOL churches and 9 church schools. When he was told by Perry Moore that EMAUSA was considering helping them with scholarships, this was his response. "During worship service today we continued praying for the kids and their current situation with their schooling this year. I shared with them the possibility of a friend helping the children to be in school this year which is cause for us to pray the more for God's provision for this to happen. The children's church teacher also shared similar request with the kids. After they spent time praying, the kids left their class and ran into our worship service to tell their parents what they prayed for. They were so excited it took 20 minutes to get them back into their class, and service was disrupted for a while because even the parents were so happy hugging their kids. Even parents could not control their joy. They tried at first but lost control when the kids stormed in. My family or the leadership should have prayed alone. I am at fault; I think I underestimated our desperateness for help."
Can't you just picture their joy and gratitude as the hugging and dancing and thanksgiving interrupted the church service? Worship indeed for our Almighty God!
After reading this, the board couldn't help but approve all 400, one-year scholarships! When he was informed, Pastor Paye wrote:
"Hello Perry, I'm in tears of joy right now having read your email. Words cannot even express my joy and gratitude for this great news! The pastors, the parents, the children and everyone hear will definitely be out of words to express their gratitude too. It's really a miracle. There will be a huge relief and jubilation when I break the news first thing tomorrow morning because it is late now. But I have already called Augustine, Jerry, Momo and Harrison. Just can't keep it until tomorrow. The churches/parents have been meeting for special prayers since I told them that EMA-USA were studying the possibility of helping our children. It's an answer to prayer. We will send a team of three from our Education committee to Lofa to deliver the funds to the congregation there. This is a huge development for us here because parents, children and all of us leaders have been very uneasy about the plight of the children. It reminds most adults about our own experience of missing school when we were young because of the war. This will have a huge impact on the church, children and communities. Thank you so much."
Thanks so much to all of our supporters, especially The Chapel who have made it possible to be a part of this exciting ministry. Your gifts are making a difference for eternity!
