ELWA Services Today
ELWA Services includes all those services and support activities that allow the ELWA ministries to each focus on their particular area. Taking care of the physical structures and infrastructure, providing security in the midst of instability, rebuilding damaged structures and fighting a never-ending battle with wear and tear caused by weather and termites are all part of the ELWA Services portfolio.
Rusty Laird of SIM has been overseeing the Services Department, and Judy Slater recently interviewed him about how EMAUSA has helped them, and the urgent needs going forward. Not mentioned is the fact that Rusty just left for furlough, and a replacement for him is desperately needed!
Our current Building and Maintenance projects include:
- repair the sand filter in the well house in back of the school (commercial grade sand filters are needed), repair of the leaking water tank behind the school
- Repairs on staff housing, guest house
- new roofs on buildings (including James Kesselly's house--also known as the Schindler house)
- services building warehouse needs to have the ceiling repaired
- upgrade hospital and radio equipment
- Major repairs of damaged roofs
- Replacement of septic systems
- new tires, tubes, for the Honda 3 wheeler

ELWA Security
Security at ELWA is a necessary part of the services and has some particular needs at this time including:
- Additional manpower needed to beef up the patrol on the ELWA Compound and to be able to adequately cover the entire campus.
- motorbikes for patrol
- flashlights
- communications sets
- uniforms [caps, trousers, shirts, foot wear]
